CNN has confirmed the typhoon that hit Japan on Friday was the super typhoon Jose.
The storm is expected to make landfall in the Philippines this weekend, the US National Hurricane Center says.
The hurricane is expected as a Category 5 storm, which means it could make landfall anywhere in the country, CNN meteorologist Jake Smith said.

Jose is the fourth super typhane to hit Japan in less than two weeks.
On Wednesday, a storm surge hit the coastal city of Kobe, killing at least 16 people and injuring at least 70, officials said.
The Japanese government warned of heavy rain and mudslides and warned residents to stay away from roads, bridges and waterways.
